SWIFT messages are often the most significant primary sources of information for investigators conducting forensic inquiries into possible money laundering, sanctions violations and other forms of financial malfeasance. In January 2017 alone, SWIFT sent nearly 27 million messages per day on average across more than 200 countries. MT103 model = MT103.parse(fin); Where the fin parameter can be a String, File or InputStream with the message in its FIN format, and the parsing can be called using the static parse method (as in the example) or by an MTnnn constructor. An outgoing SWIFT payment is processed through number of processing steps as detailed in one of the sections of this user manual. After successful processing, an outward SWIFT message, say MT103, is generat ed and sent to the SWIFT ne twork through a SWIFT gateway like SAG.
Now what it means is - in MT103 messages there are different fields to specify different information like amount, sending bank, beneficiary bank etcthese are called as tags in SWIFT world.
Using an MT 199 Template
When creating a message, you may choose to use a MT 199 Template. The MT 199 template allows you to create a custom payment message, with predefined fields.

To create a new message based off of the MT 199 Template,
KeyLink will then prompt you for the origin of the message that you want to create. Select the Manual MT 199 Using Template option, and click OK.

Description | Type a brief description of the message. |
Reference | This field is automatically generated by your computer; it is used to track the message. |
Rel. Reference | You can enter a related reference for your message, if there is one. |
SWIFT Type | When using a MT 199 template, the SWIFT Type is automatically chosen as a 199 Payment. You cannot change this field. |
Origin | This field is automatically generated by your computer; it indicates how the message was created. |
Status | The status field displays the current status of the message. When you first create a message, it will be blank. Upon saving the message, it will turn to V1. |
Message to | This pull down menu allows you to choose the recipient of the message. |
Bank ID | You can specify the specific bank that is to receive the message. If you are unsure of the bank’s ID, you can type in part of the bank’s ID, and double click on the field to display a list of IDs that match the part you typed in. Double click on the bank ID that you want, and KeyLink will automatically fill in the field for you. |
